High Technology Synthetic Fused Silica and Common Quartz

Many manufacturers define silica glass as a generic term to describe both fused quartz (made by melting natural quartz crystals) and synthetic fused silica (created through a chemical deposition process). Both forms provide an exceptional range of properties including:

  • Very low expansion coefficient
  • Broad transparency range from the deep ultraviolet to the near infrared
  • High corrosion resistance
  • High temperature capability
