and Light Guiding Capillaries Featured
Phoenix, AZ - June 1, 2003 - Polymicro Technologies, LLC, the
world-leader manufacturer and supplier in synthetic fused silica
capillary tubing
will feature
technologies of X-Flow Cells™
and Light Guiding Capillaries at the 27th Symposium on High
Performance Phase Separations and Related Techniques
June 15 - 19, 2003
in Nice, France,
Booth 26.
Polymicro introduces
a new concept in capillary tubing, a light guiding capillary providing
a annular waveguide combined with fluid delivery. Light guiding
capillary offers a new horizon in capillary tubing applications,
including: Unique sample detection & analysis; Increased path-length
detection cells; Evanescent wave optics; UV transmission inside of
capillary allows for coaxial light-activated chemistries, curing of UV
adhesives, & detection of light producing reactions i.e. fluorescence;
and Chromatographic columns with new frit technologies for improved
durability. This latest advance in tubing technologies should
prove to bring exciting opportunities to both old new capillary
techniques.
Synthetic fused
silica capillary tubing is widely used in the separation sciences,
including the popular fields of Gas Chromatography, Capillary Liquid
Chromatography, and Capillary Electrophoresis. From its advent in the
late 1970's, steady advances in product quality have emerged. Light
guiding fused silica capillary tubing is the latest step in this
continuing development.

About HPLC 2003
HPLC 2003 will
address recent developments in a variety of emerging fields.Oral
sessions will span fundamental concepts to applications and we will
hear some outstanding researchers in the fields (see the
program).Understanding of nanofluidics will result in new technical
capabilities; miniaturization is a prime prerequisite to facilitate
the analysis of femtomole to attomole amounts of analytes present in
complex samples; new miniaturized sensors will be able to sequence
single molecules of DNA; monolith columns represent a real
breakthrough in column technology but characterization of classical
stationary phases is a matter of discussions; proteomics are an ever
expanding area of research which requires high throughput analysis;
hyphenation with mass spectrometry or NMR provides information on
metabonomics. There are still great challenges in clinical analysis or
environment etc. How far is 1903 and the discovery of chromatography
that we celebrate together with the 30th Anniversary of HPLC meetings!
Who was thinking that detection of a single molecule could be
possible!
